Women’s Rehabilitation Centre
The high prevalence of domestic violence in Jamaica, coupled with low employment opportunities for women in marginalized communities leaves many women as victims to abuse, and other forms of violence. Through partnership with a well-established women’s organization known as Woman Inc., Mia’Sarka is supporting the women’s rehabilitation program by increasing on the holding capacity of the existing rehabilitation center. Currently, the center only has eight bed spaces, yet the need for space greatly exceeds the current capacity. Mia’Sarka committed to the purchase and remodeling an additional rehabilitation center that will create sixteen new bed spaces, coupled with a space for healing, therapy and rejuvenation with a goal to positively reintegrate the participants back into normal life.
Kabale Women’s Group
This project was incepted in partnership with Garden of Prosperity, a women’s support organized that was locally started to reach out to vulnerable women by means of creating an income source for them. Through Garden of Prosperity, Mia’sarka has generously supported the inception of a piggery project, sewing & tailoring and maternal health. Mia’Sarka set up a school fees bursary that supports talented and promising youth, especially females to gain education and skills that they can use to establish themselves and obtain a livable income. This program has supported various participants with skills training in tourism, catering and nursing. Success stories can be found in the link below
